    Welcome back, richard !

Great to hear that you had a very nice time onboard the QM2 and thank you for sharing the latest deals with CUNARD.
I remember from colleagues from the German cruise forum, that other companies than P&O do have these kind of oportunity as well.
CUNARD also has (in Germany I know) the "special price" where you pay more (I guess, 30% instead of 10%) as downpayment upon booking the cruise and then you can really save lots of money for the fare, and good is, before taveling you don't have a huge amount (rest) to pay, but cancellation policy is different (downpayment is lost), CUNARD (of course) works with your money in the meantime (what meant for us in this case 1,5 years from the time of booking until we cruise) and that makes it easy to give some advantages back to the customer of course.
We had booked our festive season cruise with the QV for 2012/2013 (from / to Hamburg) on the "regular" fare (world club discount deducted) and then found that special offer in the latest brochure distributed by snail-mail. Our TA managed to change the payment, even though downpayment was settled almost one month, without extra charge and we even could keep the cathegory of the cabin. Ah, yes, with this kind of "light price", you won't get the cabin number before you get the tickets. That's kind of a gamble, but we have been very lucky with our cabins up to now, so let's hope the best also for the next time
Again, welcome back, happy New Year full of wonderful time on the ships of your choice and give our regards also to Barbara, please.

Best regards from southwest Germany at the Swiss border

NCL does something similar....I THINK we paid $250 for our next cruise to be taken in 2, or was it 4? years, and received an immediate OBC of $100. We had to alter our next holiday, and were able to change the booked one for another date and another ship- no charge.

Welcome back Richard, I know this isn't a reply to the topic but as I know you are a shoe-aholic, \i would appreciate any tips on how to pack 15 pairs of shoes for my cruise in August.

Does it not say use within 12 months in the Cunard wording?

No, not that Solent Richard arrived home this morning following an exceptionally good QM2 Christmas and New Year Voyage, though that may have some bearing later in the week.

Seriously though, while on board QM2 it was announced that Cunard have followed P&O by offering passengers the opportunity to place a future cruise deposit, while on board, without nominating a particular cruise and thereby gaining the passenger a very attractive On Board Credit.

The scheme is very similar to the one I participated in last year with P&O and passengers placing a small deposit have one year, from paying the deposit, to confirm any cruise over the following 24 months.

To earn the OBC passengers can, if they wish, make their confirmed reservations with any travel agent, thus gaining additional benefits that may be exclusive to the travel agent.

Needless to say Solent Richard invested in FOUR deposits. Could never resist a good deal.

    Good morning Ramseygirl.

It is relatively easy. I do split mine into three separate groups (not always equal numbers) first so that if any case was lost then I would still have a reasonable selection.

Shoes automatically go first layer in case base. Odd items like shaving cream, electrical plugs, adaptors, etc are slotted into those shoes that will take them. Each shoe individually wrapped in either their shoe slip or a supermarket bag and fitted into case on their edges, each pair toe to heel.

Any gaps are filled with other items according to size.

On top of the shoes go my shirts, T-shirts, shorts etc, then evening jackets and trousers.

    Hope that helps.

    Good morning Waterbaby.

It does say that. The booking must be made within 12 months. But that gives you a further 12 months of ships/itineraries to choose from.

So effectively you have 24 months to qualify for credits, from the time of making your deposit.

    Hope this helps.

Like that it is only valid when booked at the full brochure price!

Almost like MSC's the second person travels for a €1 if the first pays the full brochure price!
No Tommy, either you haven't read it correctly or did not understand.

The offer form clearly states ' whether booked directly with Cunard or with your preferred Travel Agent.

So it is more than acceptable to use the valuable discounts offered by good Travel Agents such as Cruise.co and claim the additional on board credit. Easy
