Does anyone know if this port of call has been reinstated, due to things settling down a tad?

I don't think so. But check their web site

The only ships down to visit are Costas and Disney Magic, no indication MSC have put is back on their ports of call, but that could change.

Hi! I can confirm that the Tunisia stop was included on our trip with MSC Fantasia in October 2011.
There is a small 'village' built along the harbour within the docking zone, which means you do not need to go through passport control. There are usually a few camels waiting within this area, offering short rides and photo opportunities (for the Ship Sales of course!!!) but it doesn't stop you taking your own camera. The village has reasonable standard 'set' prices, so no haggling is required, including all the usual souvenirs offered in the Souks. There is also a very nice cafe which offers FREE Wi-fi, so we took our laptop and caught up with all the news from home, uploaded a few photos and generally had a nice relaxing afternoon surrounded by most of the crew on a day off!
There were traditional musicians and dancers at various points around the village so we felt we had at least 'been' to Tunisia by the time we went back on board.
As for actually going into Tunisia, we were advised that because of the recent 'unrest' the country was still a little 'risky' and if we wanted to go outside the passport control area we should only do so on a guided escorted cruise-ship trip. Seeing as these were ridiculously expensive for such a short time, we declined. However, the whole stopover was lovely and very relaxing.
Hope you enjoy your cruise!

Hi Richard! Sorry - I am not in Southampton. I can suggest 'The Platform' [http://www.platformtavern.com/] - it isn't 'special' but a convenient meeting place near the cruise terminals, if that is any help? I am on the not so sunny old 'Isle Of Wight' so a bit far away! But thank you for the invitation.

Aw what a shame. I'm meeting the friends in the Grand Cafe, I recently wrote a review on it...

Now about this 'not so sunny side'. Do I take it we are gazing at each other across the Solent?
