    Hurricane Earl

Oasis of the Seas will not be able to get into St Thomas on Tuesday, or St Martin on Wednesday due to the storm. The ship will now call on Cozumel on Wednesday and Costa Maya on Thursday.
Enchantment of the Seas will be diverted to Samana, D.R on Monday, and then Labadee on Tuesday, followed by 3 days at sea before arriving back at Baltimore...

I am sure that there will be some passengers who will create because a port has be cut out but we should all be glad that the system is such that ships avoid areas of storm and take account of the fact that hurricanes can change direction quite quickly. Anyone booking a cruise in the Caribbean from July until November should have booked with the knowledge that their itinerary might well change. Nice post CF. ......Neil

Passengers may create, Oh yes, over amazing things. We sailed back from the Caribbean, next port of call Tenerife, and a passenger on our table was creating that the captain had reduced speed to save fuel and therefore would reduce time spent in port. A load of rubbish of course, none-the-less he made an appointment to see the captain and register his complaint. The captain explained that he was due in port at the time stated because that was the booked situation with regard to the berthing of the ship and no, he hadn't reduced speed. There must have been more comment as the captain rejoined with the comment "You are not very nautical are you" End of interview. Ths was recounted to us at the dinner table and after further dicussion it transpired he wanted more time to visit friends on the otheer side of the island. Can you imagine the idiocy of that. We were 8 on the table and six said you are daft, but still he fumed. He actually hired a car and raced over to see his friends, said hello and raced back. I asked him what he would have done if he had had trouble on the road and was late for sailaway. He said they would have had to wait for him. We all laughed and dropped the subject.

Bet he did not think of asking his friends to meet him at the port, which would have been better situation.

    Edna,
He was a barrister (he said) and could very well argue his corner. We all made a mental note "Do not employ this guy if you are due in court" Really, though, aren't cruises super? all kinds, all places, all cultures and lots of fun.

Yep, friends who have a house on the Cape are thinking about putting up their storm shutters.
