Alesha Dixon has described herself as a "card-carrying cruise convert" following a recent voyage along the Mexican Riviera.

The pop star and Strictly Come Dancing judge sailed from Los Angeles on the Sapphire Princess, one of 17 vessels operated by Princess Cruises.

Taking a cruise for the first time, Dixon shared a suite with her cousin and described her accommodation as "the perfect size: compact without being in the slightest bit cramped".

The first stop on the singer's journey was Puerto Vallarta, a town overlooked by the Sierra Madre mountains where visitors can go exploring, visit some local restaurants or simply relax on the beach.

People planning a trip along the Mexican Riviera with Princess Cruises can also stop off in Mazatlan, which is home to a cathedral and a number of local markets selling food and other items.

Dixon also recommended Cabo San Lucas and encouraged travellers to look out for marine wildlife during their cruise, having spotted dolphins and a humpback whale on her own trip.
