A man admitted guilt before a USA court today, for defrauding his cruise ship employer of several million dollars.
Peter Valiando, 53, who at the time was acting as the chief operating officer for Paul Gauguin Cruises, set up secret bank accounts which were opened in almost identical names.
After setting up the said bank accounts, he diverted payments from third parties intended for the luxury cruiseline into his accounts and took the money for his personal use.
It was heard that between 2007-2009, Valiando fraudulently acquired more than $2.4 million.
Sentencing will be carried out next March.
He faces up 20 years' imprisonment, to be followed by three years of supervised release and a $4.8 million fine.
Richard DesLauriers, Special Agent in Charge of Boston FBI made the announcement today.
