Thumbs up Six Cruise ships in Soton

I dont know if this has been posted before. Some may be interested if they have not seen this.
    --------------------------------------------------------
IT’S going to be a record-breaker! For the first time in decades Southampton will witness six cruise ships,
including some of the most famous vessels in the world, alongside the port in just one day.

On Wednesday, January 5, in excess of 360,000 gross tonnage of passenger shipping will be berthed in the
docks, a sight not seen in Southampton for at least 50 years.

Next year is expected to be the busiest ever for cruise ships as more companies bring their ships to the port
with at least one million passengers due to cross the city’s quaysides.

Until recently the winter months were quieter than the busy summer season but as cruising has increased in
popularity more ships are staying in the UK to cope with the ever growing demand for voyages to and
    from Southampton.

If that is the case Dave, it will be like rush hour at sea. Any idea the times of sailing's Hope to be there about 2.30 for the Queen Victoria. Must have my camera ready as we get to Southampton to get a few shots.

Which itinerary are you on Edna , TA to NY, Panama Canal to LA or Hawaii ?? - am dead jealous! Have a great one!

Write a review would love to know how crossing the North Atlantic in Jan is like?

Am a bit apprehensive about a TA and 6/7 sea days. So am very keen to know what is on offer to while away the time. I imagine that you will not be sunbathing!!

We are on Arcadia - arriving back on 5th to Southampton. Instead of loading up the car and driving back - it might be worth booking into a hotel for another night so we can witness the spectacle for ourselves.
Thanks for the heads up Barrowman :-)

Why stay another night. Hang around for a few hours, they will all be sailing away at 4 -5 PM, when you get up on the 6th - they will be all gone!
