Post Booze cruise anyone? Royal goes all-inclusive...for a price

Royal Caribbean has started to offer a number of all-inclusive drinks packages - but is it music to everyone's ears? Firstly, are they good value? What do you think...

Beer & Wine Package = $29pp per day.
Includes all brews, house wine by the glass and a 25% off spirits and other wines.

Classic Package = $39pp per day.
Includes beer & wine packages plus all cocktails and a selection of premium/specialty spirits.

Premium Package = $49pp per day.
Includes all of the above plus wines by the glass up to $10, and more premium spirits.

    Where/when are they available?
The drinks packages are available now aboard Grandeur of the Seas, Independence of the Seas and Legend of the Seas, which are predominantly filled with UK passengers.

Are you a booked on any of these ships? Will you be buying a drinks package?

Have you purchased on board drinks packages before - how do the above measure up?

On the other hand -- do you think drinks packages are a bad idea, for one reason or another?

    Hi
Can you buy a package per couple or does it have to be per person?
    Thanks

I know Vinny, but on another cruising forum, somebody said that their partner wasn't allowed to share and that it was too much for one!

The sharing thing is always an issue. You have to decide whats right for you and see if you can achieve that. I'm lucky we drink very similar drinks (well whilst she's looking) so its makes no difference to me. I'd try it on though, so that you get the best of both worlds. Vinny

It would be no good for me, as I buy a bottle for my evening meal and it lasts five/six days. If it included soft drinks it would still not cover my daily tipple.

They will be sold per person. With the prices on RCCL being as high as they are, the last couple of years,($8-10 some drinks) it would be a great bargain. I don't drink much but I think I could force myself
It would be nice to sample other drinks then discard if you don't like them without feeling too wasteful..

On Costa they have similar packages that have to be bought by all in the cabin, they are great value if you like a drink.
Costa J2 is £35 a day but covers ALL drinks up to euro 6.99 plus tip and bottles of wine at dinner.
Water, special coffee, fresh orange, sodas and even the drinks in the cabin fridge are also included.
One thing with these packages on RCCL it will do away with the crush in the Diamond lounge and Concierge (diamond plus) for the free drinks.
Wonder if they will give Diamond and Diamond plus a discount.

We went on Celebrity Summit and I had the classic package and my wife had the soft drinks package and it paid dividends. You don't have to worry about prices as it is paid up front, No problem with bar staff either
