Scholars say that people who lived at the same time as Jesus believed he'd be coming back in their lifetime. I think that there is no time that passed since then in which there has not been some group making the claim that the world will end. Of course, someday they will be right because all things come to an end eventually.
I live in the U.S. and am so fed up with these air heads, especially how they influence politics. I think they are groups of vulnerable not-too-smart and emotional people who are taken advantage of by leaders who are often furthering a rightest political agenda. Groups that believe the end is imminent can feel justified in taking no responsibility in the world for things like the environment. They are people who could be active for just causes but are nullified by the quack leaders and twisted interpretations of their faith.
"Apparently, the group follows the teachings of a California preacher who had previously predicted the end was coming in 1994. He later said he'd gotten his calculations wrong..."
Yes - and not for the first time they had to rename their fateful day as 'The Great Disappointment'. There have been quite a few of those and considering the enthusiasm of the deluded for this sort of excitement, there'll be plenty more...
Just a thought......... everyone laughed at Noah, perhaps we should play safe and book a cruise for that date
So long as they are not a pain in the bum to other passengers, and dont mind being laughed at when nothing happens, they can get on with it.
Well said, hope your husband gets well and good treatment
Told my wife about this cruise and she said she would never book a cruise if she thought it would not return.
We have enough trouble when out shopping together and we loose each other , she thinks I've been taken up.
Tell her, why should she be left to have all the fun.
