Stansted may be convenient for London and East Anglia dwellers but it is the most difficult London area airport to get to if you live anywhere else in this country. 6.7 million people may live in its catchment area but that just leaves 56 million who dont.
So they then use one of the other airports that RCI use!!

Hopefully by water taxi - what a great way to start a cruise!

Watch this space - Stansted is the closest airport to Harwich and the Jewel of the Seas uses Harwich as a home port for it's Baltic Captitals and Russian cruises. From 2013 they are thinking of sending a "Freedom" class ship to Harwich so I predict that Stansted will by then have direct charter flights from lots of different American airports. Instead of the 2 hour journey time from Heathrow to Harwich, after perhaps an 8 hour flight from the States, 45 minutes would be much more appealing to USA passengers.
