You were lucky. We had a week in Funchal earlier this year the towels were out before 06.00 and coats were left on seats in the entertainment lounge before dinner at 18.30 for a 22.00 show!

It would have been better if Mercury had become Dream and then Costa Europa would be Mein Schiff .

I believe on the top deck it is also topless sun bathing!
Who needs sunbeds when topless sunbathing is legal !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Or is that just "topless blokes?".

I would have subtly rearranged the towels and coats to provide some additional entertainment. No point in wasting a good night out for lack of a seat.

I've never been in a resort or ship with Germans as the majority of guests. Once on Mein Schiff the passengers are practically all German, I find it strange that this business of reserving sun loungers and seats still goes on. The Germans are known for obeying rules blindly so I wish someone could explain why they ignore the rules in these cases.

It started with an advert for Carling Black Label

Sorry but the Black Label bit is over my head.

Was one of these two ships formerly the Island Star?

Having now looked at the Carling Ad the habit must have been well established before it was shot.

Mein Schiff 1 was formerly the Celebrity Galaxy.... I sailed on one of her last cruises before she went over to be refitted for Mein Schiff. Some of the refurbed areas looked very good indeed!

Mein Schiff 1 home ports in Valletta, Malta. As it's all in German , the local agent organizes menus and newsletters in English. There is also a tour leader. The excursions (in English) are also included in the AI price.
Anyway a number of our friends have sailed on this ship and they were impressed with how well it had been refitted and also the standard of the food. They also liked the fact that , unlike modern ships, there are a number of lounges and bars with good views of the outside world.

Dare i say,but i usually find it is the brits that are the worst for putting towels on sunbeds in hotels and cruise ships, but worst is they put towels on with no intention of using beds, either go off shopping,or for breakfast,or other important matters and leave them for couple of hours, really bad manners
