Cunard's famous Queen Mary has failed its surprise hygiene inspection!

Every cruise ship has hygiene inspections just to make sure they are at a satisfactory standard and passengers who will be visiting the ship will be safe. Well from one of the most popular ships in the world you would not expect this kind of "royalty" to be so dirty! The surprise inspection was carried out at the beginning of the month (June 10th) in New York, when the ship revealed some not so nice secrets!

The test is scored out of 100 and Queen Mary 2 scored 84. To you and I this probably doesn't sound that bad, but for this clean cruising test that’s low! The ship also had 60 hygiene violations recorded. According to TTG Digital "Reports in the US press have claimed inspectors on board the ship on June 10 found cockroaches and flies near its restaurants as well as filthy pool tiles, dirty ice machines and draught beer lines and even human hair in an icemaker. The report is also said to have used the word ‘filthy’ on a number of occasions."

After Cunard Cruises disappointing report they have quickly corrected all the faults found. The company said -“The company is confident that failings of this nature will not occur again, and that the ship’s VSP scores in the future will return to the customary consistently high level.”
