Post Antony Worrall Thompson sets sail with MSC

MSC Cruises have just announced that Antony Worrall Thompson will be performing a unique series of onboard demonstrations next year.

The award winning chef, restaurateur, author, tv presenter and broadcaster, who is probably best remembered for his appearance on Ready Steady Cook and I'm A Celebrity Get Me out of Here will join MSC Splendida in Barcelona next February.

Commented Worrall Thompson: “I have always loved messing about in boats, so when MSC Cruises asked me to come on board and cook for some of its guests, it was too good an opportunity to miss. Particularly when the request comes from a company that places such importance on great food.

“I will be demonstrating some of my favourite dishes, plus a couple of surprises that I am preparing specially for the occasion.”

New for the 2011-2012 season, Antony is among five of Europe’s top chefs who will be joining the MSC fleet for a series of special theme cruises.

Other chefs taking part are Michelin starred French chef Gilles Epié, Kolja Kleeberg (Germany), Filippo La Mantia (Italy) and the Michelin star winner Paco Roncero (Spain).

Antony will be joining MSC Splendida on her 8 day, 7 night cruise departing 4th February 2012 (Genoa, Barcelona, Valletta, La Goulette (Tunisia), Civitavecchia (Rome), Marseille, Genoa). Prices start from £539 per person (cruise only). Flights are £230 per person return from London.

    Any takers?

Should be interesting, especially if he's worked how to make some of the things that "I'm a Celebrity" contestants have to eat more palatable..............like kangaroo dangly bits.

I just don't subscribe to the celebrity chef franchise culture. Apparently there is now a 'Jamie's Italian' in a nearby city but how often Jamie even goes there and want connection the menu has to the perceived intent of the patrons, is possibly more then two steps removed.

Should keep the Daily Mail set entertained.

The squashed Bee Gee on a cruise ~ enough to put anyone off their food! Give me Angela Hartnett anyday...

Importance on great food! MSC???? he's obviously never been on an MSC cruise, I was on Splendida last year and worst food and service I've ever had on a cruise ship!

I like AWT, so this might just tempt us back to MSC, for whom we have a great fondness having started cruising with them. We always found their food really good - especially the freshly made pastas and risottos, which we can't get enough of.
