    Official Press Release

Celebrity Cruises' New Celebrity Silhouette Invites Guests to Unwind in "The Alcoves"

Luxurious, intimate new cabanas now open for online booking

MIAMI, July 15, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Picture this: An endless expanse of the sea behind a lush, green lawn from the vantage point of a luxurious, private cabana. That's what awaits vacationers who book "The Alcoves" on Celebrity Cruises' stylish new Celebrity Silhouette, and now, those bookings can be made online.

"This is yet another vivid illustration of our commitment to ensuring our guests can spend more time enjoying every moment of their vacation, versus planning what they'd like to do after they're onboard," said Celebrity's Senior Vice President of Hotel Operations Lisa Lutoff-Perlo.

Eight chic, cabana-style settings comfortably accommodating two to four guests each, The Alcoves are designed to allow for relaxation and seclusion within a hip ambience, just steps away from the lively vibe of The Lawn Club. Within The Alcoves, guests can enjoy stunning views of the lawn and sea; ambient mood lighting for cozy, romantic evenings; complimentary amenities including a fresh fruit plate, hand-held fans, chilled towels, four bottles of water, and all-day use of an iPad loaded with a variety of music, movies, games and magazines. Additionally, fresh, themed picnic baskets with delectable selections from Celebrity's specialty restaurants, as well as a la carte beverages, are available for an additional charge, and just a phone call away, via Celebrity Silhouette's dedicated Alcove Attendant. Wine and cheese evenings under the stars also can be arranged, along with special spa services, once onboard. Guests enjoying The Alcoves can even stay in touch with family and friends back home, if they choose, as the area is fully WiFi-equipped (fee applies).

The Alcoves can be booked online for full-day rentals, from 9 am to 9 pm, or even for the entire voyage. Rates are $99 per Alcove per day on days in port, and $149 per day on days at sea. To make a booking, visit Caribbean Cruise Vacations & Cruise Deals| Celebrity Cruises | Cruise to Europe, Alaska & Australia Today!. Special values are available for guests who book one of The Alcoves for several days or for the entire cruise.

Adjacent to The Alcoves, guests will find eight inviting hammocks and two whimsical, oversized Adirondack chairs, each offering complimentary, additional opportunities to relax amidst the atmosphere of the lawn and sea.

Celebrity Silhouette enters service July 23, enhancing guests' precious vacation time with a host of industry-first venues and experiences within The Lawn Club. In addition to The Alcoves, those new experiences include the industry's first interactive, outdoor grill, "The Lawn Club Grill," where guests can select and grill their own meats side-by-side with Celebrity's expert chefs, or have them cooked to order; Celebrity's first Art Studio, with engaging courses led by professional artists; "The Porch," a breezy, casual dining spot offering sandwiches, coffees and captivating views of the sea and the lush lawn; and, at the center of the ship, with views of the sweeping, glass-encased Grand Foyer and its signature 'live' tree suspended within a commissioned work of contemporary art, yet another entirely new venue, "The Hideaway," an intimate, quiet space reminiscent of a childhood tree house.

    Hi,
I have never had the pleasure of a Celebrity cruise, however, as nice as it looks.....it just appears to me to be another gigantic $ extractor!! I thought by having your own balcony you would be able to achieve all that the Alcoves has to offer? - at no extra cost!
    Regards

Now then, I've got 149 dollars burning a hole in my pocket. Shall I rent a Cabana in the middle of a public area? On RCI I could spend it on a behind-the scenes-tour. It won't take long to get rid of 149 dollars in the Spa. No I can't make my mind up - another drink please barman while I work it out.

I dont quite get it but I suppose some fools are easily parted with their money. A Cabana is a hut or cabin not a few chairs with a sheet thrown over the top for shade.

In fact this type of seating is freely available up on the top sun deck, just go to the other end of the ship and up one deck to the Solstice deck and you will find lovely beds with thick mattresses and double beds with canopies over the top. Hardly any different to the seating being offered in the 'Cabanas'. The only difference I suppose is its yours for the duration with payment but hey its amazing what a left book and pair of old flip flops can accomplish for those nice beds up on Solstice Deck.

It would be more of a novel idea to charge and rent out by the hour. It must be very frustrating to those that pass by to see these things empty as I am sure that no-one would want to sit in the same place for the whole day without moving or going to find something entertaining to do.

There's a point, I wonder if they'll employ a ticket inspector. If not, you could just plonk yourself down for an hour or two and if someone questions whether you paid it's "Oh sorry I didn't know".............................Or do you think they'll be a bit sharper than the pool attendants are with the book & towel brigade?

The lawn is very quirky, however on sister ship Eclipse it appeared to be the most "under" utilised area on the upper decks...the other cabanas were located under cover near the SPA pool.

As for reserving for a whole of the voyage? suspect they will sell well to those who do like to indulge.!

We're looking forward to our cruise on Silhouette in April-but I doubt that I'll be in one of these for $149!
Perhaps that's where the Euro Lottery winners are hiding?

$149 OMG whatever next. I love Celebrity and the Eclipse but surly they must know that 99.99% of people will not pay for an upmarket sunbed!!!!!

the grass area is so underused. we payed a few games of bowls but that was all. it would be better if they reduced the grass area or allowed sunbeds/chairs on the grass.

don't want to work, just want to cruise.
