    Celebrity Silhouette Has Been Named!

We’ve all been waiting for her, and guess what now she’s here!

Yesterday (21st July) Celebrity’s newest ship Silhouette arrived in Hamburg ready for her formal naming ceremony. The ship weighs 122000 tonnes and carries 2880 passengers. It has top features like; Outdoor BBQ, Art Studio and Private Cabanas but it wasn’t cheap it was a whopping £500 million!

Michelle Morgan, a leading figure in the travel industry in America, was made God mother of Silhouette yesterday. The new ship followed Celebrity Cruises tradition by supporting breast cancer charities. The new God mother and her mother are both breast cancer survivors too! Michelle cut the pink ribbon and the champagne bottle was smashed against the ship.

According to Travel Weekly “The ship also features designer boutiques from brands such as Michael Kors and Bvlgari and the Celebrity iLounge Apple internet café offering classes in using iPads and iPhones. Celebrity Cruises has also launched an online game to help travel agents learn about Silhouette and the destinations it will visit in its inaugural season. The vessel is the fourth in a series of five Solstice class ships costing a total of $3.7 billion. The final ship, Celebrity Reflection, is to be launched in 2012.”

After the official launch the first sailing from Hamburg will be to Holy Land and Eastern Mediterranean from Civitavecchia, the port of Rome. Throughout the winter she will sail to the US and in the Caribbean from Cape Liberty in Bayonne, New Jersey.

Are you sailing on Silhouette this year or would you like to?

What a beautiful Ship, we are booked on the Caribbean Cruise sailing from Bayonne on 18th November 2011 and are so looking forward to sailing on her. Celebrity is our favourite cruise line, we have tried others but always come back to Celebrity as it suits us.

Lizzie, I saw an ad in the paper today for 12 nights on Silhouette - Eastern Med from Rome - CC Balcony £1069 inc flights - 15 Sept 2011. I couldn't believe the price - very tempted but we did the same plus Alexandria on Equinox 2 years ago.
