I am llike Edna, I will be just back from a long voyage late April so need to have time to turn around. Still could always take the laundry onboard and get it done whilst we sail. Now there's a thought. Also I would want to go much further North as far as Spitsbergan and beyond. I have been there before but want to go again.

Yes MM, Spitsbergen would be lovely. I once had freq flyers miles for a July trip to Greenland but my mom got sick so I stayed at home, I was able to change but had to use the ticket before the end of the year, and trips to Greenland finished in August when I was due to be married. I changed to flights to Longyearbyen for December to see the NOrhtern lights and I broke my leg 6 weeks before I was meant to go. Clearly those FqFlMiles were never to be used! So I do hope to get there sometime!

Well, it looks like being G and me, plus the 2 others who've booked!
Along with the cruise dot staff, that should make up one table for dining.....
If it had been a shorter cruise, which some people are mentioning, then we wouldn't have booked, as we will not make that long journey + hotel etc. again for a short time....swings and roundabouts ....
Apart from meeting more forum members, it will be our chance to try our 6th cruise line- we never fancied Celebrity before, but it's one way of checking out lines and ships.

Celebrity was our first cruise when we went to Alaska on the Infinity when it started in Canada and we found the food and service to be exceptional. Having now done cruises on Princess (5) and Holland America (1) we still miss that service which we believe is just one notch up.
Perhaps we are biased as it was our first cruise.

I chatted with Liz and she expressed an interest as this is one of the areas we would like to cruise in so it is something for us to consider especially if plans do not pan out for this year.
Course our main expense would be the Air to Southampton and hopefully not hitting price increases in Hotels due to the 2012 London Games.
We of course would spend time around the area after or prior to the cruise

Having just returned from our cruise on Carnival Magic, I have only just picked up on this thread.

It does seem quite a high price for 8 nights in May, infact I think the fares were much lower when Celebrity first released them. It is a cruise I had looked at only because we do tend to do a mini cruise around this time of year and its unfortunate that celebrity are not repeating their 3 and 4 nighters they have done in the past two years to Cherborg and Cork.

Personally I think a 2, 3 or 4 nighter at the most is what the majority of forum members would have preferred. Particularly looking back at the response I got when I proposed a similar idea at the beginning of this year.

I think you may hit a stumbling block with this one as a runner. For example trawling through the piles of emails I have received whilst away there was a Fred Olsen promotion for 3 nights at £149 in December (not an ideal cruising time I know) but surely the sort of thing that most would jump at as its at an affordable, fit in between main holiday sort of thing.

    Dont know what others think?......

As I've said, a short cruise just isn't worth it for us, because of the long journey down, plus hotel expenses etc. We've started taking our holiday in May/June now, so it all hangs together for us. It's also a Fri to Sat cruise, so we can have a train home, which was one thing we had to check, there being no trains to our village on a Sunday.
If not many others book- then we're going on a cruise anyway, so we're happy!

Hi Bradbury ,just looking by the numbers of replies you probably are right, we did think about it , we also would have liked a shorter cruise, most people have plans in place for cruises come next spring /summer. CG
