2 Ships Shelter from Channel Storm in Southampton

As the intense low pressure system moved through the channel last night two cruise ships headed into Southampton instead of their scheduled port of Dover. The 71,000 tonne Aida Blu and the 85,000 Cotsa Atlantica have headed to Southampton to allow the Gale Force storm winds to blow through on Tuesday 6th September

Sensible move, and a least the passengers will get to do there tours mostly. Pity, I am to busy to get down there to have a look.

As these are both Carnival companies and Southampton being Carnival UK headquarters I don't understand why we do not see more activity from Costa and Aida at Southampton rather than Dover.

After witnessing these unusually early gales I am not surprised that these ships have sought a haven here. Many of the Cross Channel Ferries have cancelled for these two days of storms.

It is not pleasant at the moment. Do we have a Indian Summer coming?.... The experts say definitely not. ......Neil

It's noticeable that Oceana was making slow progress down the channel last night.
