The shuttle from MAN to LHR is not a qualifying flight for BA miles. These are BA miles, not "Air Miles"
Really? London/Edinburgh is... but maybe it was the ticket class, probably full fare economy as it was a business flight. I'm sure the same class of ticket would be available on the MAN/LHR route. Still worthwhile to get her into the Exec club.

the reason we have so many BA miles is because we always flew BA Business or First Class (well only once First Class, and that was only because there were no business class flights left) The reason we don't fly any more is not the actual flying, it is the disabled transfers at Heathrow, we have never had a straight foreword transfer there, everywhere else in the world we have had no problems, just Heathrow, and now BA use Heathrow as a hub with no flights to anywhere else from Manchester (well that is anywhere that cruise ships depart from) so now we just cruise out of England which is a bit limiting especially early in the year. Cunard ships are all on their world cruises, Celebrity do not arrive back in England until May, Royal Caribbean only have the Independence of the Seas, which we think is the “Black Sheep” of the Royal Caribbean fleet, and we would not take a free P&O cruise after our last one on the Arcadia. We have never tried Fred Olson but there ships are very old and seem to suffer a lot of age related problems. I suppose I might be being a bit fussy.

You should check the BA website (Exec Club) as your 350000 BA Miles will take you Club Class (and to some destinations First Class), to many long haul destinations to join cruises outside the UK. Increased baggage allowance, fast track security, use of lounges, priority boarding/disembarkation and Club Class seating, remove quite a bit of the hassle experienced when flying. The original post above states that taxes, charges and surcharges will now be charged additionally, but that has always been the case when redeeming BA miles (being renamed as Avios), which are not to be confused with AirMiles which is a different scheme.

    Thanks Mrs M

I will look into it; I know that a few years ago you did not get BA miles for domestic flights as they were not considered as "qualifying flights"

#3 Apparently, when Avios come in on 16 November, you will be able to transfer your BA miles to it.

I had loads of air miles and because I had not used them for two years, they just wrote to me and said they were taking them away. Years of saving with no flight at the end of it.

Edna, all you should have to do is reactivate the card by adding some new Airmiles - cash in a Tesco voucher if you have one. Do it quick, though! The same thing happened to me - I found we had nearly 5000 points on an old card and on the off-chance, I rang up, and got told this in time to add the points. I hadn't had any other notification whatsoever. Once it's been reactivated, the points should be converted to Avios when they come in.

For anyone with points to be spent, have a look through the other offers. I've been told by Airmiles that the taxes thing won't affect cruises (although their offers aren't great anyway - we booked a very similar Caribbean cruise last year for less, with no airmiles!) or any other offers. The points will simply change to reflect the change: 1 Airmile = 10 Avios, but the prices will increase 10-fold as well, so it'll be the same overall. I spent mine on cases of wine!
