This poor man must have been in a very desperate state!
But at least he left a note for his family.
Yes, it is a selfish act but soe poor people just cannot accept what life has thrown at them and feel this is the only answer.
We must have the upmost sympathy for the family as they now have no body to place at rest or a place to visit to grieve!
I used to think suicide was selfish...but having seen loved ones suffer, in spite of all the drugs and 'good deaths' vaunted by the medical profession...I wouldn't presume to judge any more.

I hope a UK Dignitas will one day be a reality for anyone who felt the need of such. Contentious...probably.

I'm with you there Mrs M. I've not seen a loved on struggle in their final days but having had animals in old age with severe medical problems and nursing them through until they themselves have had enough I know i sooner have the option of calling it a day rather than prolonging life unnecessarily. I kno some wil say it isn't comparable but if it were me I'd sooner say enough is enough. I have now had 4 pets put to sleep in the last 10 years and in every case it was the obvious choice. I hope someon is able to do the same for me when my time comes. obviously it will require a lot of legal safeguards to stop people acting in their own interest but I'm all for it. I'm being tad more controversial than usual tonight!

    Cruising my way through life!

    Well that's three of us.

I have watched loved ones suffer and my Grandmother pleaded to be able to die, that stay's with you.

I hope I can have the choice.
