Over-50s 'more likely to book long cruise holidays'
More over-50s are taking time out of their lives to book cruise holidays to destinations they have always wanted to visit.
According to Gapyear.com, there have been more mature people visiting the site because they still retain a sense of adventure.
General manager Tim Felton commented: "Don't forget, a 55-year-old is still more than ten years younger than Mick Jagger. Some are lucky enough to have retired with a lump sum and this is their big end-of-work present to themselves.
He noted: Others have learned how to blend life and work and this is the latest trip in an ongoing series. They tend to want a bit more certainty in advance about where they're going to sleep and what sights they can visit.
For many, this could result in them booking cruise deals to exotic locations that they have not been able to afford to visit up until now.
Mr Felton's remarks came after research from the Post Office revealed one in four over-55s are considering taking a gap year in the next two years.
Tell us about your gap year experiences.
