Post Celebrity Cruises clinches Readers' Choice Award

Celebrity Cruises is toasting its own success today after picking up an award at the Condé Nast Traveller Readers’ Choice Awards.
The awards were held in New York on October 10th, with television stars Stephen Colbert and Mary-Louise Parker presenting prizes.

Celebrity Cruises picked the best cruise line award in the large-ship category, which is regarded as one of the most prestigious honours in the world of cruise holidays.

The win came courtesy of its 2,500-passengers plus Solstice range of ships

Speaking about the victory, Celebrity's president Dan Hanrahan said: "All of us at Celebrity are thrilled with this recognition, which is a genuine validation of everything we’re devoted to offering our guests."

The win caps off a headline-making last few months for Celebrity Cruises.

Earlier this month, the company made headlines with a special charity cruise in aid of Cancer research, while just this week, the company premiers its new European wine cruise.

"We’re honored that the sophisticated readers of Condé Nast Traveller appreciate the modern luxury we’re focused on providing across the fleet,” Mr Hanrahan said.

Have you ever been on a Celebrity cruise? Do you think they deserve the award?

Celebrity NOT the best.P&O far better in my opinion.Sailed on ECLIPSE in MAY.Drinks prices excessive and Main Dining Room was CLOSED for lunch on Port-days!! Consequently Windjammer (buffet) became like a glorified Mc Donalds..lots of pushing/shoving and OVER-Crowding. Excursions are also over priced for most folk.
Was not at all enchanted with Celebrity...there are severalout there who have 'em licked!!

the MDR is open for breakfast every day but I do agree that the MDR should be open for lunch on port days but Celebrity have several restaurants that you can eat on port days eg windjammer, spa, bistro on 5. if you don't go between 12 and 1pm there is no problem getting a seat. most people are off the ship at lunchtime anyway.

as for the price of drinks and tours if you do your research before you book then this comes as no big surprise. the drinks are not as expensive as you think as the measures are larger than you would get in a pub or hotel. the prices are about the same as I would pay in a pub in Glasgow.

don't want to work, just want to cruise.

A league above P&O in my opinion in both food and service and far cheaper too providing you don't sail out of Southampton, and you book your own fly cruises.

The fact the MDR is not open on port days for lunch is no big deal for me, although I do miss the brekkie, I much prefer to savour the local cuisine ashore at lunchtime.

As for overpriced excursions.........Show me a cruise line that isn't..........Wilba

Having sailed on Eclipse and Azura, Eclipse being ahead of the field and Azura ten years behind it its really no contest. The price of a comparative P&O cruise was far more expensive after including tips and drinks and that was from Southampton.
We were not the only ones on the cruise to think so the quality of the whole experience was better than P&O OK MDR not open on port days no big deal plenty of choice in the Buffet bar .

I am amazed with this comment. I am amazed you found the Windjammer so busy, as it is not on Celebrity Ships. Windjammer is on R/C ships but perhaps you thought you were on Celebrity, but were not really. Please get your facts right. Also Celebrity beats P&O hands down in every department.
