Each time I hear about a new RCI innovation, I think that all the other lines must hang their heads in despair. I'm very impressed by almost everything I've read about them....but I still have to sail with them.

Yes indeed! Just returned from part of a World Cruise on ORIANA. The segment we experienced can be described as rather poor. The excursions were awfully strict in timing. To give an example: In Dubai, we took a trip to the tall tower and had just 10 minutes to view. The queue to ascend took 20 minutes and the exit took the same. The cost was not worth it at all. The ORIANA is one to be avoided, in my humble opinion, solely for not appreciating the need for some preparation on several of the Excursions.
I totally agree with including the tips/gratuities in the price, as long as the Cruise Lines show the final price in their adverts and don't add it on as an extra at the end of the cruise!
We sailed to the Canary Islands with Thomson last Christmas on our very first cruise, for that very reason, as we found the tipping situation quite scary and daunting.
Thank you P&O. We are sailing to Norway from Southampton on 1st September, on the Ventura, during which time I will have my birthday, so we are really looking forward to going somewhere different. Any chance of leaving from Dover in the future, as we'll sail past our house!
We were on the QM2 doing the Fjords in July last year. You will love it!
We have cruised with Thomson with no hastle for tips.We just gave them where we saw fit to do.no problems as they quote that tips are included.
It's always best to read the small print about tips before you go.You can in most cases request at the reception not to pay them or tip were you want to when you board the ship.Don't wait till the end of the cruise!!!!

Hi csm. may I politely suggest that you change you Forum name to something other than your email address. This is an open Forum and a nickname or pseudonym would be much safer than something which I assume is your email address.
If I am wrong I apologise or of course if you see no need to change. A quick email to admin will allow that change to be made.
Regards. ....Neil
Thank you Neil, didn't realise. I'm new to this, have now sent email to admin. Thanks again.
