We loved SJU but coming home was better - we we bumped off our SJU EWR leg and we rerouted via Barbados and London back to Shannon. We got USD 800 compensation, a night in a hotel Barbados and business class flights home. They looked for volunteers initially with USD 250 in vouchers!!! The offers then increased.

    Puerto Rico

We visited San Juan on our Royal Caribbean cruise last Nov/Dec. It's a great Port stop on a cruise as it has a good Spanish flavour, cobbled streets, the old Fort good for a wander around.
We have previously stayed on the island before ever cruising and staying in the beautiful resorts areas around the island we are typical Caribbean, beautiful beaches and swaying Palm trees. You have the best of both worlds as you have interesting towns such as Ponce and old San Juan, great American style shopping Malls and the beautiful Caribbean.
We are going there again this year, also BA did fly direct from Gatwick and were to start flying there again.

We stayed both pre and post cruise at the condardo plaza. Probably the best hotel outside of vegas that we have stayed in. We loved the place, the food, the rain forest and the bicardi factory. Great place.
