Post P&O adds seven new cruises in 2012

    Official Press Release

P&O Cruises adds seven new cruises in 2012

Reflecting an increased demand in cruise holidays that start in and return to the UK P&O Cruises has added seven new cruise itineraries in 2012, all departing from and returning to Southampton.

The cruises range from a three night cruise break on Ventura to a 28 night Caribbean cruise on Adonia. Also included are itineraries to the Canary Islands, Western Mediterranean and Atlantic Coast.

The seven new cruises which are included in the new Winter 2012/2013 brochure are part of the P&O Cruises 175th Anniversary Sale, which offers up to 10% discount on all 249 cruises in the Summer 2012 and Winter 2012/13 brochures on bookings made between December 1, 2011, and February 29, 2012.

So in cementing its reputation as leader of ex-UK cruising, P&O Cruises can confirm that from winter 2012, Oriana, Adonia and Oceana will sail year round from Southampton. The three ships will sail on cruises of two to 35 nights duration.

Research conducted by the Passenger Shipping Association (PSA) found that in 2010, ex-UK cruises out performed the UK cruise market growth overall, growing by 10% and accounted for 40% of the cruises taken by British Passengers.

A recent survey conducted by P&O Cruises on their Facebook page supports these findings with 40% of respondents stating they preferred cruising from Southampton due to the fact the ‘holiday starts as soon as you arrive’.

A further 20% favoured cruising from Southampton because there are no baggage restrictions, 12% selected ‘ease of embarkation’ as their favourite thing about cruising from Southampton, while 6% like that ‘no flying’ is involved.

    The new, ex-UK cruises are:

    Ventura:

    N217N, three night cruise break, July 20 - 23, 2012
Southampton, Zeebrugge, St Peter Port, Southampton
    Prices from £349 per person

    N217P, four night cruise break, July 23 – 27, 2012

    Prices from £449 per person

    Adonia:

    D215N, 15 night Western Mediterranean cruise, October 7 - 22, 2012
Southampton, Alicante, Barcelona, Sete, Livorno, Alghero, Port Mahan, Gibraltar, La Coruna, Southampton
    Prices from £1,649 per person

    D216N, 13 night Canary Island cruise, October 22 – November 4, 2012
Southampton, Madeira, La Palma, Tenerife, Fuerteventura, Tangiers, Lisbon, Southampton
    Prices from £1,349 per person

    D217N, 28 night Caribbean cruise, November 4 - December 9, 2012
Southampton, Madeira, Virgin Gorda, St Maarten, Antigua, Martinique, Barbados, Grenada, Bonaire, Aruba, St Vincent, St Lucia, St Kitts, Tortola, Ponta Delgada, Southampton
    Prices from £2,599 per person

    D218N, 14 night Atlantic coast cruise, December 9 - 23, 2012
Southampton, Madeira, La Gomera, Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Casablanca, Cadiz, Lisbon, Southampton
    Prices from £1,329 per person

    Oriana:

    X301N, 24 night Caribbean cruise, January 6 - 30, 2012
Southampton, Ponta, Delgada, St Maarten, Antigua, St Lucia, Barbados, St Kitts, Horta, Southampton
    Prices from £1,999 per person

All prices are per person and based on two adults sharing on a full board basis including all main meals and entertainment.

Have you booked your 2012 cruise yet? Do any of the above appeal to you?

Oriana cruise X301N can't possibly be departing 6thJan 2012 for a 30 day Carribean cruise as she goes on her World Cruise on 5th Jan 2012 so I'm guessing you mean 2013!!

I feel so jealous of people who live not far from Southampton. I know this has all been mentioned before on forums, but I live in Lancashire and it would be wonderful if there were more ships departing from Liverpool as I think there might only be one now. Southampton is such a drag to get to.

I totally agree Vivienne, I too live in Lancashire and would love to be able to cut down on travel time by embarking somewhere nearer to home!

So, any thoughts on a ship full of Northeners. LOL. From a Lancashire bloke now living in milder climes.

Consider the rest of the UK

'Lancashire, Newcastle especially Rosyth and Greenock'

We have been on many sailing from Rosyth with often about 60/70% Scots. What a treat instead of 80/90% Southeners. What a treat these cruisers are, also all the ones who fly from Scotland, well behaved and especially friendly.

I would plead for the wonderful ship 'Adonia' to have it's home port in Scotland or to always be a Fly/Cruise out of Glasgow or Edinburgh.

This ship, which used to be 'Swan Helenic's, Minerver11' has class not like the other large P & O ships which are far too large. Let Southampton keep the Jugernaughts of the sea, and give the people who want class what they appreciate.

What alot of spin in the press release - in winter this means the holiday starts 3 days after one leaves the UK and ends 3 days before the return, bouncing throught the Bay of Biscay and the northern Atlantic, I will be looking for fly cruises.

Could not agree more Robert, I live 20 mins from Manchester Airport. in the time taken to get to Southampton, I could be in the sunshine enjoying a cocktail. Why do P&O think we all want to sail from Southampton? It suits them because the rotton northern european weather means 3 days of spening money in the bars!!!

To each his own, we live on the Isle of Wight and we were on board within 2 hours of leaving home which was great and really suited us as we were there for the whole experience not just the weather

I went on a mini cruise from southampton and there was lots of folk who live near southampton on that, it was such a bargain for them, no coach or car journey/cost, I live near Liverpool and would love to cruise from Liverpool.
