P&O Cruises' vessel the Adonia has departed Falmouth ahead of schedule, following emergency repair work on the ship.
Last month, the cruise holiday provider announced that the 30,000 tonne ship would require urgent repairs ahead of an 87-night world cruise.
The news saw a ten-night trip, previously scheduled to depart from Naples on January 3rd, cancelled with pressure on P&O Cruises to repair the vessel ahead of the three-month trip.
However, these fears have now been allayed after round-the-clock work on the ship saw it depart the Cornwall port, two days before the cruise begins.
Speaking to thisissouthdevon.co.uk, A&P Falmouth managing director Peter Child said: "We gave a major commitment to complete the work within the four-day window, and we have delivered to ensure this happened."
According to Mr Child, the firm had around 60 highly skilled staff working on the boat on a 24-hour basis.
The Adonia has now arrived in Southampton ahead of tomorrow's cruise, with up to 710 passengers set to enjoy the 87-night trip.
