A growing number of travellers are considering cruise holidays in January, according to research conducted by Kantar Media.
Speaking in a recent interview Mediatel, company marketing executive Alice Dunn revealed that a recent survey by the firm indicated that around 1.4 million adults would take at least a week of holiday in January.
In these instances, she explained that this group were "twice as likely as the average holiday maker to embark on a sea cruise".
Unsurprisingly, cruises outside of Europe appeared most popular according to the research, with Ms Dunn explaining that travellers were "three times as likely to holiday outside of Europe".
This comes as regions around the world enjoy warmer temperatures and weather conditions compared with mainland Europe.
While trips around the US are a traditionally popular option among cruise holidaymakers. the research also bodes well for newly emerged destinations like Abu Dhabi.
The last 12 months have seen the market for cruises to the Middle East grow, with Royal Caribbean International recently revealing it had received increasing interest in its Gulf itineraries.
Are you planning a cruise holiday this winter? Where would you go if you did?
