Thomson Cruises has unveiled new plans to offer anyone interested in a cruise holiday a special one-night taster trip for along the UK coast.

The new 16-hour trip will travel from Newcastle to Harwich, giving passengers the chance to explore the facilities aboard the Thomson Spirit cruise ship.

While on board the special trip, which includes coach transfers, travellers will pass by Tynemouth, Seaham, Whitby, Flamborough Head, Humber, California, Southwold and Felixstowe.

This one-off special was put together as the cruise company needs to reposition the Spirit from Newcastle to Harwich before one of its main summer trips.

The firm previously offered a similar sampler trip back in 2009, when they last operated out of both ports.

Those interested in gaining a taster of a cruise holiday can do so for £99 per person, with meals and return coach transfers included.

Thomson Cruises managing director Fraser Ellacott explained: "For those customers that have thought about a cruise holiday, but are not quite sure what to expect, our one-night taster cruise gives Brits the opportunity to experience a cruise, right from their doorstep."
