Hebridean Princess granted Royal Household Warrant

All Leisure Group's Hebridean Princess cruise ship has been granted a Royal Household Warrant, in a move that could provide a major boost to the firm.

Under the agreement, All Leisure Group is now able to display a Royal Arms and the famous 'By Appointment' mark on  its ship, premises and advertising.

Royal Warrants are granted to those individuals or businesses that have supplied services and goods to the Queen, Duke of Edinburgh and Prince of Wales for over five years.

The Hebridean Princess is arguably All Leisure Group's most luxurious cruise ship.

The vessel itself trades size for sophistication, with room for just 49 passengers spread across the spacious cabins found on board.

Trips aboard the ship take in Destinations as diverse as the Scottish West Coast, Hebridean Islands and Norway.

Speaking about the award, All Leisure Group chairman Roger Allard said: "This is the first time a Royal Warrant has been awarded to a shipping company and I am sure that all sister companies within the All Leisure Group will be proud to receive this news."

What do you think of this award? Would it ever affect your choice of cruise?

A very prestigious award, and probably well deserved, and I have no doubt the Hebrdean Princess is well appointed inside, and the cuisine I am sure will be most excellent, but I would think that the ship is quite limited in it's capabilities, after all it's still only an ex inter island ferry, and worst of all it looks it.

I believe the ship has been as far as Norway, although I personally would not like to be caught out in a blow on the North Sea in such a little ship with a top speed of only 12Kts and a draught of just 10 feet, surely the Hebridean Princess which resembles something from the British Rail Steamer era cannot be considered a serious cruise ship however good the service.

What a pity the viscous anti Royals in the last government retired the Royal Yacht Britannia, she was so well known and respected around the world.
Owned by the nation, and crewed by the navy, she probably cost no more to run than any other medium sized naval vessel, while the wasted billions we have thrown at the Euro proves that we as a nation could well afford her.
The Queen and her governments have hosted countless trade missions on board the R Y Britannia, and many trade deals for the good of our country were signed aboard her, and as an asset she paid her way.
What a shame our long serving Queen who is well respected the world over has to hire an old car ferry for her holiday, because her nation cannot come up with something more prestigious.

PropShaft she may not be the prettiest on the outside but she is beautiful on the inside. take a look.

Luxury, small ship cruises as individual as you are | Hebridean Island Cruises

as she was a ferry then surely she would withstand the north sea winds. Scotland has more than it's own fair share of high winds and gales and she sails here without any bother.

don't want to work, just want to cruise.

    Hi Issy,
yes I agree she is lovely inside and I for one wouldn't turn down a trip on her if it were offered at the right price, but she is still a small ship of only 2104 Tons and 235 Ft long with only ten feet of draught and not very fast.

I know it can blow cold around A'Chill and be windy round Waternish Point, but in her former working life as Columbia she was able to keep in the lee of the islands which is not the same as being caught short a long way from home, although she has been as far as Tilbury, so I think a trip as far away as Norway would still need a lot of forward planning that's why I don't think she is a proper cruise ship due to her limitations.

I am sure that someone on the forum could tell us what it would be like on that type and size of ship being caught in a Nor'wester.

As a ship I do like her, and she has a characterof her own as do most ladies of her age, and I hope that she is around for many more years to come.
