Cruise Holidays could provide answer to 'stressed-out' Britain

Opting for a cruise holiday could be the ideal way to avoid any stress linked to travelling for your summer break, after research highlighted the time it takes for travellers to relax on a trip.

According to the research, conducted by villa letting firm HomeAway.co.uk, it takes holidaymakers an average of 21 hours and 31 minutes before  they start relaxing.

This comes as many on holiday are faced with long flights, driving or general travel before they reach their destination.

Once there, these holidaymakers then take some time to settle into their new surroundings, which can often prove difficult to navigate.

These figures come despite research showing that 80 per cent of travellers go abroad to relax and unwind.

Company spokeswoman Marie Chenailler said: "We work the longest hours in Europe so holidays shouldn’t feel like hard work too.

"Along with the stress of travelling, early breakfasts, tourist crowds and fights for sun-loungers can just add to holiday stress, but this needn’t be the case."

Booking a cruise holiday, for instance, could provide an easy way for travellers to cut much of the stress of travelling and strains linked with the traditional holiday.

After all, cruises provide a unique holiday experience, with a wealth of entertainment features onboard each vessel for travellers to enjoy.

Travellers simply board the ship and immediately become accustomed to their new home and surroundings, with luggage simply dropped off in a cabin.

With each new destination bringing fresh experiences, any potential stress over heading home is likely to be washed away.

What stresses you out on holiday? What are your favourite cruise holiday activities to help you relax?

I'm not sure this is exactly the right time for this message. At the moment, looking at the news and then looking at a cruise ship is going to make some people pretty stressed.

Not so true if you're doing a fly cruise. The year before last, we left a 6:00 am for the airport to fly to San Diego. After a 2 hour delay and a rerouted flight due to the volcano, we arrived in SD with no luggage. After retrieving it from the next flight, we got to bed at 1:00 am US time - a 27 hour journey.

Last year leaving from Southampton - 25 minute drive and 1 hour later sipping an aperativ on board.

Once on board though the most stressful part is deciding what to tick on the room service breakfast menu. Cruising is so relaxing.

Most stressful part for us is disembarkation day.
After being chilled out for a couple of weeks... But, do look forward to being home and planning the next 'Chill out'
