The appeal of visiting European cities like Paris as part of a cruise holiday remains undiminished according to travel writer Sarah Woods.

Ms Woods is an authority on European travel, with a particular passion for the French capital and is a regular travel presenter on the Alan Titchmarsh show.

Speaking in a recent interview, the travel expert argued that cities like Paris continue to have a timeless appeal to holidaymakers all over the world.

"Now, more than ever, people are wanting to see these iconic cities," she explained, singling Paris out for particular praise.

"We're familiar with all the images and landmarks and if we haven't been to the Eiffel Tower, we feel that we have got an affinity with it."

Ms Woods explained that Paris tourism has also evolved with attractions for all the family alongside the memorable picturesque setting.

Cruise holiday visits to Paris offer an ideal chance to sample the city too, with passengers disembarking for a day of exploration.

During that time, they can soak up the atmosphere of the Champs Elysees and Arc de Triomphe.
