Post MSC: OUT with Worrall Thompson, IN with Paul Rankin

    Official Press Release

MICHELIN AWARD WINNING CHEF PAUL RANKIN TO SET SAIL WITH MSC CRUISES

It is with regret that MSC Cruises announces that Antony Worrall Thompson will no longer be performing a series of culinary demonstrations on board MSC Splendida next month.

The company is however delighted to inform its guests that Michelin award winning chef Paul Rankin will be joining MSC Splendida in Barcelona on Sunday 5th February 2012. A series of appearances at sea on Monday 6th February will then see him showcase some of his best loved dishes – and a selection unique to MSC.

One of the UK’s most popular chefs, Paul Rankin won Northern Ireland’s first Michelin Star, whilst his trailblazing Cayenne in Belfast is among the country’s top restaurants. A regular on TV shows such as Ready Steady Cook and Ten Mile Menu and the writer of numerous best-selling books, Paul is also a passionate supporter of local produce, so much so that in 2002 he launched The Rankin Selection, a range of traditional foods now stocked in supermarkets throughout the UK.

Paul will be joining MSC Splendida on her 8 day, 7 night cruise departing 4th February 2012 (Genoa, Barcelona, Valletta, La Goulette (Tunisia), Civitavecchia (Rome), Marseille, Genoa).

It comes as no surprise really Cruise lines don't like adverse publicity.

Actually , I wouldn't go specifically to watch any of these so called celebrity cook, it's been overkill n the televisions lately, much better watching the ships chef and waiters, especially the drinks concoctions , no one monopolising the proceedings. CG

They are probably worried that he might steal their cheese!

AWT would have insisted on a mid decked inside cabin as he looks like he is from middle earth.

He wants it, he needs it. Must have the precious. They stole it from us. Sneaky little hobbitses. Wicked, tricksy, false!

This will be his defence when in court on shoplifting charges!!!

How sad to hear this news he did"nt need to steal for financial gain, like lots of other situations it is an illness. He admitted what he did and is now accepting treatment.
I hope it goes well for him And I am sure there are a lot of people who feel the same.

Sorry but I don't share your compassion. It's not an illness, its a compelling desire to get away with something, the thrill of the dare.

I hear he is to chair a new BBC cookery programme, its called

    Ready Steady Took!!!

You obviously dont agree with my comments, and I certainly dont agree with yours or your sarcasm.

Compassion is not a bad thing I dont think he would have had any thrill from what he did.

    It"s very easy to condemn.

Neither do I think theft is an illness, Anthony is an educated man and knows the difference between right and wrong, and if he felt his life needed more excitement then he should have tried something that would not leave someone else badly out of pocket
Being no fool he must have weighed up the prose and cons of getting away with robbery, and decided the thrill of robbing someone was worth the risk, and I wonder how many times he got away with it, leaving another unfortunate business to stand the loss.

A top QC will no doubt get him off with a fine, by pointing out that having enough
collateral so as to not to have any need to steal, the unfortunate Anthony having a successful TV career and several successful businesses is far more at risk from this harmful behaviour, than are most of the law abiding poorer people
