Realistically Carnival should offer compensation in the region of £20,000 to £25,000 for each uninjured passengers and return of the full cost of the holiday money plus a new cruise holiday of similar duration as a good will. The company needs a second chance and reassurance for the passengers this is the best and effective advertising to the potential cruisers.

Good morning RendezvousSAM and welcome to the forum. I don't think the amount of compensation will do anything to reassure people, not me at least. They could make it £1m if they want but I won't be sailing with them in the off-chance I'll get rich in the event of a tragedy.

Not on the off-chance of getting rich but because they are probably now the safest line to sail with. But, having seen the Channel 4 programme, they & all cruise lines must take on board what the QE2 Captain said: be honest about what is happening. The advice for people in life jackets at their muster station to 'go back to your cabins' was entirely out of order.

Sorry, but I'm still not tempted. I would say that all cruise lines are taking lessons from this tragedy.
