No - not a troll - definately not when you have over 3,000 posts to your name - just someone that has lost their way a little on this topic and instead of dropping out -or even apologising when it was obvious other people were upset by their postings - dug themselves in a little deeper.
The main thing is that the majority that have contributed have demonstrated compassion that such an awful thing should have happened - whether by accident or design we do not know - and have shown that even though they did not personally know the person they still have enough heart to voice their regret.
That is what matter most.
There used to be a prolific writer on the Q&A pages, before the forum began, who answered questions with songs.....or list the folk songs for a destination. I was wondering if this is the same person?
Jo.
Whether he is the same person or not there is something very strange in these remarks. I see it as strange that someone answers or comments with a song but there's room for everyone on a forum however strange they may be. But to do so on such a sad and serious topic goes way beyond being strange.
Foxtrot - I really think you should seek medical help if you can see anything lighthearted and funny in someone committing suicide. You are very sad!
I read with interest the compassion/lack of compassion debate. I am a both a train driver and a cruiser. yes I have dealt with the aftermath of a suicide and it is a horrific way to kill yourself and also extremely selfish. The trauma is not just to the driver but also to passengers on the platform, the station staff and the emergency services who deal with this very aggressive and violent form of suicide. Whereas I have sympathy with the person who wants to end it all, I am also cross with their selfish methods. like most things in life it is not a simple black or white matter but an issue with many shades of grey.
