What an excellent decision by Fred Olsen to offer fly cruises from Tenerife that sail southwrds towards the Cape Verde Islands and to the west African countries of The Gambia (Banjul) and Senegal (Daker).

I have been to The Gambia and Senegal and I found them to very interesting countries with the locals being so friendly and welcoming, I have been wanting to visit the Cape Verde Islands for a while now and this type of itineray appeals to me but seeing it will be on the Breamar I think I will for go it!

It sounds very interesting, Fred Olsen are once again the pathfinders for other companies who are stuck in the same routeen for year after year.
Fred's have been going to Cape Verdi for a couple of years now and they must have done their home work, because at certain times of the year in the Cape Verdi islands you can't open your mouth without chewing on Blue Bottles, according to a friend who has been for a hol

    Well done Fred Olsen

Having been a fan of Fred Olsen, since my first cruise on the old Black Watch, back in the early '80's', I was very interested to read about the latest addition to their range of cruises. The idea of a flight from Gatwick, direct to the ship in Teneriffe, certainly appeals to me. Can't wait till 2013 !!

The proposed itinerary is very good. The North Africian destinations give a brief insight into that part of the world and Cape Verde (which we visited several times over the years) has a good climate and lovely beaches. Unfortunately we will not be availing ourselves of the opportunity to combine these destinations by air as we now 'don't do' air travel' and will continue to avoid it like the plague until airports/airlines make some effort to at least pay lip service to customer service. Gatwick's a bearpit and the least said about Heathrow the better. As we're in Essex, by the time you've taken the 2hr check in and anything up to 4-5hrs (depending on the M25) getting there into account, you've lost the best part of a day messing about. Stansted is handy, we used to use it all the time for holidays/cruises and to visit family in Europe, but not all tour operators use it and after the last fiasco we won't either. Personally I don't mind sea days, my wife spends them in the gym or spa, and a bumpy ride across the Bay of Biscay is infinitely preferable to the hassle of airports. For those than can it's another option, for those of who can't or won't do the airport thing, UK ports every time.....

We have sailed fred Olsen (caribbean) on braemar on 3 occasions and one trip to the canaries on Boudicca, the latter was quite disappointing but the new schedule including Cape verde, gambia etc semms quite tempting especially as it is Braemar, think we may seriously consider it.
