Don't for get the 4 bar to plug them all into!

    http://www.traveldoctor.co.uk/vaccines.htm

This website says: This is a serious viral illness spread by the bite of an infected mosquito. It is endemic to parts of tropical Africa and South America.

A live vaccine (Stamaril) given as a single dose (0.5ml subcutaneously) at designated yellow fever centres where an international certificate of vaccination will be issued. Immunity starts ten days after vaccination and lasts for ten years.

After ten years a booster is required which is effective immediately and lasts for another ten years.

The certificate is mandatory for entry into certain countries particularly in East Africa. It is recommended that the traveller carries the certificate along with his or her passport when travelling to and from countries at risk.

The information isn't hard to find and usually a quick call to your doctor will sort out what you need. I do think the travellers were at fault for not making the nescessary enquiries.

My own doctors web page has information on which countries require which jabs tablets etc.

We are all atheists about most of the gods that humanity has ever believed in. Some of us just go one god further.

One wonders why the couple have compounded their 'silliness' by exposing their stupidity/lack of forethought or preparation, to public ridicule, by putting their story into print ! They will not be covered by their travel insurance (if they had some) either as it is their responsibility to comply with entry requirements to the countries visited and re entry requirements from GB.

It's so common these days for everyone to want to blame someone else, though, isn't it? It can't possibly by their fault, as that would imply they are stupid, inept or careless.

    .
Now would'nt it be great if they could read all these comments about themselves, it might dawn on them just how stupid they have been, and withdraw their claim on P&O
but then again on this occasion fools may prosper.

One wonders how they manage their lives if nobody is around to tell them what to do next - it's the old story - no common sense.

why oh why can't people take responsibility for their actions....or in this case lack of action?

What would have happened if P&O had given in and let them sail then they had caught yellow fever?
If their insurance failed to cover them because they should have had the jab before they left, would they have then blamed P&O for letting them sail and putting them as risk of catching it?

You bet your bottom dollar they would have.

having said all that, if this was their honeymoon I bet more of their time was spent organising the wedding and reading the small print wasn't high on their priority list.

shame cause it came back to bite them on the bum.

We have just returned from a similiar wonderful Amazon cruise with Princess. Prior to sailing we had had at least 3 mailings/e-mails advising us of yellow fever regs & jabs. AND IT WAS IN THE BROCHURE!! Shame because you missed a fabulous experience.

    Cruise or package holiday

If you want a 'nanny' go on a 7 night package to Benidorm.
If you want to travel the world and are an adult take responsibility for what you do.
We HAVE to stop this blame and claim culture which is threatening to spoil, mar and ruin everything for everyone.

The article says that they were refused boarding because Mr Painter didn't have the required certification. This implies that Mrs Painter did. If she had already travelled to an area requiring a Yellow Fever certificate, she must have had some idea of the areas of risk.
