Almost five times as large as the Titanic, with a population of more than 8,600 when fully booked (including staff), Oasis of the Seas packs a punch when it comes to food bills and upkeep...

- Dozens of people and 18 robots wash windows each day. "It's like painting the Golden Gate Bridge. Once you're finished, you start again.

- The utility room buzzes 24-hours a day: 34 crew members wash more than 20,000 pieces of linen such as towels, table cloths, and sheets daily.

- There are three doctors on board and there is an intensive care unit with a life support machine. Every few weeks a passenger has a heart attack so thrombolytic drugs are kept on-hand.

- Every week, the medical staff dispense up to 3000 meclizine, a drug that treats sea sickness.

- 200 crew members are dedicated to entertaining passengers. They include performers, child activity planners, and lighting and sound experts.

- Every Saturday morning, before the sun comes up and while passengers are still asleep, the ship docks to take delivery of 750 pallets of food, flowers and other supplies.

- More Corona beer is loaded than any other alcoholic drink, followed by Budweiser and Bud Light.

- Guests consume about 20 gallons of maraschino cherries and 80,000 bottles of beer.

- More beef of various types is loaded than any other food.

- When a lot of Germans are on board, extra pork is ordered. Americans tend to favour chicken and beef. In the summer, if a lot of families are sailing, more ingredients for Caesar salad are needed.

Corned beef?? You never know whats in that stuff.

Beer? Budweiser is not beer: that's lager. If you want beer, you would need Oakleaf brewery's "Hole Hearted" or Ringwood brewery's Forty-Niner and served at not less than 45 degrees fahrenheit, not all this foreign lager that's served so cold that it freezes the tastebuds, in glasses so cold that they tear the skin from your bottom lip. How about a real-ale ship. After all, our local steam railway "The Watercress Line" run real ale trains.

Oh there was a good conversation on another thread about how you would need some kind of gyro system to get the real ale to settle on a cruise ship!......

Just back from 14days on the Ventura or as it is now known Butlins on Sea,
Far to many kids running around,taking up all the lifts it takes ages to get a lift because the kids press exery button and the lifts take ages,drinks far far to dear,food not up to P&O standards,eating areas a bit tatty.
the 1 good point the cabins are nice unless you get one that has had a family in it.
We will never be back on the Ventura ever again,money not well spent:mad:.
Entertaiment was very poor, dancers could not dance and the entertainment Director was, how do I put this anti European.
