Smile Lottery win brings joy, and a cruise to NY!

A 63-year old retired miner from Barnsley is celebrating after recently hitting the jackpot.

Father of three, Ashley Beaumont, says he will use the cash to go abroad for the first time in his life - on a transatlantic cruise to New York.

Beaumont has been wheelchair bound for more than 12 years and suffers from poor eyesight, so had to ask one of his carers to check his Euromillions Millionaire ticket after the draw.

In disbelief the carer checked the ticket over and over again before telling him he had won.

Speaking to his local newspaper Sheffield Telegraph, he said "I'm really looking forward to sailing into the New York harbour and seeing the view that I have seen so many times on the TV".

Ashley revealed one of his favourite films is Breakfast at Tiffany's, starring Audrey Hepburn, and said he is excited at the prospect of visiting the Fifth Avenue store himself.

I wonder who he's cruising with? Let's hope he's going in style on the Queen Mary 2 :D

If you won the lottery, how would you spend it? And, more importantly, who would you cruise with and where to?

I'd retire early and do the cruises I've listed for retirement. After having to go away in school hols it would be a luxury to just go when I wanted to. Antarctica would be first.

I'd invest in some original artwork too, but from my local gallery, not NCL!

I'd employ a personal trainer to try to get me back to an hour glass instead of a beachball!

I'd like to breed Clydesdale horses as they are an endangered species.

What to do with a £7 million lottery win

    Move to a nice bungalow.
Employ someone to be ill for me
Cruise as often as I want
    Explore the aphrodisiac effects :D
Spend it all before I go.

I would not be totally selfish and would look after the family and friends and donate a few bob to charities we support with nice donations and go and see the world on cruises we have dreamed of and never could quite afford.
The rest I would probably waste and enjoy doing it with a clear conscience.

Firstly treat family and friends & like Bob above, make donations to favourite charities.

Then a world cruise on Cunard in the best suite! On return, buy a cabin cruiser & moor it in France, so we can do all of the french waterways.

Then 'carry on cruising' & enjoy buying all the super clothes we would need!

I have my one ticket for tonight! Fingers crossed.

    A 'very hopeful' Lizzie.

If I won I'd buy a bigish house but with loads of land up on the moors near here (Crowden has always appealled), I'd book cruises for everyone of the kids school holidays and travel the world.

I'd put the kids into a very good boarding school. Then whilst the kids are in school I'd like to take a decent amount of time out and walk the appalachian trail in America, Take a trip to the lands of the cloud people in Peru, trek round the foothills of the Himalayas and visit Cambodia. I would also visit Ethiopia and see some of the ancient Coptic sites.

Then for when I'm back I'd invest in a BMW X6
Preferably in Aubergine, with full body kit and most of the extras

We are all atheists about most of the gods that humanity has ever believed in. Some of us just go one god further.

Apart from the nice house in the country and making sure my offspring have a decent roof over their heads with no mortgage worries then it would be travel and more travel while I am still fit enough to do it. A world cruise would definitely be on the agenda. I guess QM2 would be top of the list (and I would stiil revel in the fact that Cunnard drinks are reportedly cheaper than silly RCI prices ! not that it would actually bother me if money were no object !)

It would also give me pleasure to be able to give more (actively and financially) to the charities I already support

I would pay off a few mortgages for family and friends, buy myself a house with a bigger garden. Take my family on a cruise and spend the rest on more cruises/holidays for myself and OH. ;)

What a lovely story and I hope this chap has a great holiday albeit when I did a Transatlantic cruise some years back on the QE2 I met a lottery winner who had his dream cruise and then spent all the crossing on the slot machines never seeing light of day let alone enjoy the shows, food, suite and ambiance of the great ship.
Ahh what ever turns people on of course and many people do dream of a cruise when they win.
If I won the lottery I would give most to my children but keep a few hundred thousand for my holiday fund as I love a bargain.
