At 103, Christina MacDonald is still going strong after two world wars and 43 cruises.
Speaking to the News & Star, she said: “I never thought I would reach this age. I honestly never thought I would be as old as I am.”
But she has her own ideas as to how she might have managed it: “I had a very happy childhood.
“I think that the experiences you have as a child have a bearing on you in later life.”
Born in Glasgow in 1907, Christina was the daughter of a harbour master, her father worked on the thriving Prince’s Docks in Glasgow.
Never married, Christina dedicated most of her life to becoming a committed and skilled nurse. After she retired aged 61 Christina then worked voluntarily with the ambulance service for 15 years.
