I've purchased several Kinkade prints via the auctions, but always purchased them in advance. We (my wife and I) have always been fascinated with his work and when the time was right we decided that we would like a series of his prints framed around our home. They were not expensive and we were able to study his work extensively prior to purchasing them. When we returned home the prints arrived about 1 week later. I took them to be framed by a professional picture framer, who commented that he had not seen such good quality prints for a long time, and hoped that his framing would do them justice. To this day they take pride of place at home and are regularly commented on by guests. When in the US we always visit the Kinkade galleries, his work is exceptional.
Hi Vinny. I'm not familiar with Kinkade's work, but I shall now have to find out!

He is often referred to as the 'painter of light'. Even on the prints when you dim the light above the picture, the picture seems to light up. Plenty of stuff on the web. When you next cruise, take a look at some of his work at the pre-auction. We think they are stunning to look at.

Art Auctions on the High Sea's is a big money maker across all the lines otherwise they would not be in business , much like pirates (old times I meant)

I would think there are very few of us that would really know if something was "a good buy" apologies to those that do have the knowledge !!

IMO it is all about if you see something you like and are prepared to pay the price then go for it.

I saw a lovely picture on Arcadia at Xmas and was expecting a price tag in the excess of £1000 so was pleasantly surprised to find it was less than £400, I'm still kicking myself for not buying it.

I enjoy looking at art for a similar reason - I design cross stich charts.
    Judith
I used to do very elaborate cross stitch from charts and loved it but not had time for years. Do you just make the pictures for yourself? (Sorry everyone, off topic I know but couldn't resist).

Also, when I was on IoTs, I thought the art was fab. I'm a bit of a Philistine but I would have taken any of it home. That said, I didn't go to any auctions, just saw the pictures displayed and maybe what they actually sell isn't as good as that.

R.H. came to London in the first place to go to art college, where he met his wife, a sculptor.
