Good luck Lizzie, hope it goes well for you. What a geat hobby/pasttime. I like art very much but have never bought direct from a ship's auction; it always seemd too pricey but obviously other people felt differently. I have to say we have often discussed whether or not it was a scam!

Thanks Angela, It is a great hobby until it goes wrong, which watercolour often does, or rather the person applying it, then it's frustrating!
As to the original thread, buying art on a cruise ship, I wouldn't! A lot of what I have seen is fairly naff and way overpriced. Even with art, unless it's an original, it pays to shop around!
However,each to their own.
Regards, Lizzie.

The only good thing about art auctions is the free drink they ply you with !!! Best sup it and clear off for a deck walk ....................... keeping your money safe and secure in your pocket.

Nah, my acrylics are for personal perusal only ~ a local gallery run by a Co-op sells good value pieces which are likely to be better in the long run than a ships auction and more original than a 10,000 run print
Christine Ormsby the People's Gallery
We also have an upmarket gallery round here that sells higher end stuff ~ at the mo he has some Rolf Harris stuff available Rolf Harris - The Hawthorn Gallery - Limited Edition Art Releases, Fine Art ~ again better prices than the ships!
