In 2006 they had some very good West End style shows, an Orchesta and a Classical Trio who I think were from Romania. They had current films on in the cinema. The ships company ( as on many ships) put on a show with traditional acts from their different countries. There was a very reasonably sized dance floor and some serious dancers on board.

    Sounds fine to me.
Delboy, I have just been looking through your photographs; they are brilliant. Wish I had more time to look the but the kitchen beckons.
There should be a warning somewhere that this site is addictive.

I live in Clacton, which is approx 30 minute drive from Harwich, I like Harwich and often go there to photograph the ships and boats. My photo's can be viewed by clicking my Flik'r photo site after my signature.
Hi Delboy. Took a trip to Harwich today - we were going to Chelmsford and changed our minds. We were lucky, the Jewel of the Seas was in. We drove to the station, parked, and walked over the railway bridge and down the other side to see all the lucky people boarding for their Trans-Atlantic voyage. We sailed on the Jewel two years ago, and are booked to go again next year. We then had a lovely lunch on the pier and sat in the beautiful sunshine. As the Jewel was there we wanted to see her sail out, so nipped off to Lidl and Morrisons to do the shopping chores, then returned to the pier to watch her sail away. A really great day. We bought a list of the ships sailing out of Harwich, and noticed the Discovery. When I sat down this evening I noticed the Shearings subject, then Discovery, then your mention of Harwich..... Your photos are excellent (so many!!) and I intend to look at some more tomorrow.
