Keen shoppers planning a cruise in the Far East might want to choose an itinerary that includes a stop in Hong Kong, which is home to a range of retail outlets catering for all tastes and interests.

Anthony Lau, executive director of the Hong Kong Tourism Board, described the destination as "a shopper's paradise".

"Hong Kong offers visitors a fantastic shopping experience," he added.

"From glitzy malls to funky street markets and from trendy boutiques to traditional Chinese product stores and themed shopping districts, visitors can basically find everything from the latest designer fashion to electronic gadgets and best-value antiques and collectibles."

Travellers planning to stop off in Hong Kong during an Asian cruise will also have the opportunity to see Victoria Peak, which is one of the city's leading attractions.

Mr Lau pointed out that the mountain, which is the highest on Hong Kong Island at an altitude of 552 metres, offers views of Victoria Harbour, skyscrapers and green hillsides in the distance.
