Lizzie, if you have Grumpy 4 at home then I have Grumpy 5 He says he LOVES Christmas but doesn't like buying/shopping for pressies, wraping the pressies, decorating the Christmas tree, having family round for Christmas dinner oh I could go on and on. he just likes the thought of Christmas and the Christmas pop songs and Carols. to make sure that he does enjoy himself I invite the family for Christmas dinner and have a 7 foot Christmas tree to decorate well I've got to get my enjoyment somewhere

Issyalex, your husband sound like he NEARLY qualifies for my Scroog appreciation Society but not quite; he let the cat out of the bag by saying he LOVES Christmas !! Like the rest of it though, a man after my own heart (but don't tell the wife!)

OK Issyalex, just for you he can become an Honorary Member but only because he LIKES football (as long as he isn't a Manchester United supporter that is! oops, that will get some comments; only joking!!). Just stick the tenner subscription in the post in time for CHRISTMAS! See I will have somethings I look forward to at Christmas!!

never been away on a Christmas/New Year cruise but we have booked 2010/11 QM2 Caribbean. Used to go land based holidays many years ago and always loved Christmas away, somewhere warm and being waited on but one of the nicest things was to see how other countries actually prepared and celebrated the birth of Christ, and no matter where we were the children's eyes and smiling faces are the same the world over. The other biggest plus regarding being away for the festivities is no supermarket queues.

Er yes, married to Grumpy 4 for the last 32 years!!But like you, he is a happy soul-at heart!!
Too add to my previous post - hot chestnuts would taste awful in the Caribbean. Christmas carols are best reserved for cold evenings in Town Squares - with the 'local band' playing and preferably, snow falling!
Mulled wine, when you get home, can't imagine that tasting as good in Barbados etc.. Putting up the decorations..fresh greenery, the smell of fir, holly and ivy, now THAT'S Christmas!
Still not impressed ah well.... I tried! Regards, Lizzie

Know where you are coming from with the hot chestnuts etc - but mulled wine, ugh - what I cannot understand is if it is so good, why dont people drink it all year!!

Crikey! It's a lot less than 36 days to go, now!
Good thing I bought The Mrs. her prezzie when we were in St.Maarten!
I'm off the hook (for now..)
