My husband and I are both deaf and when we told Reception we were deaf they were most helpful and supplied flashing door bell, Text Phone, and Vibrating Alarm clock to our cabin but when it came to the Muster station we got no help at all we just stood there wondering what it was all about as there was no help for deaf people at all and so if we were ever called to the Muster station in an emergency we would certainly not know what to do. It is the same with all ships Deaf People are ignored when it comes to being called to Muster Stations for emergency drill.
Well just to let you know, that on the answers page there are a few of us getting in touch with people, hopefully in the short future there will be something done about it, but it also shows that if people do not address the issues then nothing can be done. You never know on your next cruise you hopefully will know what's going on....Brian:D
Hi Brian, hopefully something will be done as I have spoken to other deaf friends who have cruised and they too had no idea what was being said at the Muster station in fact one couple did not even go to their muster station as they had cruised before and the talk went over thier heads despite telling a Safety officer they were deaf, she did not know how to help so instead of being made to feel stupid my friends said its better not to go!!! But we would really rather know what to do and as we cant hear anything said over the tannoy we would know nothing at all if there was an emergency. Hopefully the matter willbe corrected by the time we go on our next cruise in January.

Now this is a good idea Brian you should find loads of info to help. Now you need people to post pictures of the cabins so people can compare facilities on the various ships and a library for them to just type in the ships name and access the info.:D You can still get to the top of the mountain!!
Spartan thats a great idea, as I am sure all ships have there pluses and minus
As i have been on Ventura but i was in a normal cabin with Balcony, the reason for this I can walk but not alot.
as it was our first cruise and really the only time I have been in a wheelchair alot so lots of things became hard work.
The Ventura I found was quite hard to get around, especially on the top decks as there was alot of places that just didnt go around the ship, lots at different levels. some of the doors to the prom decks was hard to get open as they did not have a little ramp, and again you can not go all around the ship. Toilet facilites was very good, Toilets for the disabled on every deck and very large and with an emergency button. The main restaurants no problem all the waiters helped and head waiter, nothing to much for them, the cabin Isles sometimes was very difficult as the room attendents had there trollyies in the Isles, no room for both. The worst bugbare was the lifts, that became like an Olympic game. They shut far to quick, and seeing as there was about 6 of them 3 on each side and it was like a game tryting to outwit the lifts. That became very annoying.
This November going on the Navigator so I will be able to see what the differencs are .
Spartan thats a great idea.
You could also have a review page for disabled passengers not the glitz and glam but hard facts about access to swimming pools, opening doors cabin facilities and the big one tendering they could be star rated. That would keep you busy once it gets rolling.:D
