New Member & question about disabled rooms

    Hi everyone,

My parents and i are looking at a cruise onboard crown princess in july. Wonder if anyone had used the disabled/adapted rooms and what they were like?.

Sorry can't help much except to say that we were directly opposite an inside one on Grand Princess last year and it look very roomy. We were talking to the Steward beside the open door on the last morning and could see the door to the shower room was good. Couldn't say how good the actual facilites for showering or washing were though.

I think most cruise lines are very helpful with wheelchairs and scooters but hopefully you'll get better advice on here.

Hope your parents enjoy their cruise.

They are large with plenty of room to turn wheelchair wide doors to both cabin and roll in shower. Crew is very helpful. They do far more than expected of them. Remember they are not there to lift you. Lifeboat drill there are designated crew to get you to your station so speak to your stateroom attendant before drill as all lifts are officially out of action. There are pictures of these cabins on the other site the one that criticizes every thing

Our steward on Grand Princess said you could. Although I wonder if you could reserve one before they knew how many disabled people may need them!

It is possible; we have to fill in a form stating the disability now people could lie on the form just like they miss-use blue badges to park.
I expect that as most of the ships are owned by US companies that a non-disabled couple who try it on could find themselves put ashore.
Cruise Fairy may know more on this subject as she lives on the other side of the pond.

Hello Dilly, My brother in law has MS, and we travelled on the Oceana last year. They had an adapted disabled room which was alot more roomy than our inside stateroom.

Instead of the usual shower, it had a very large shower room with a plastic seat provided. The facilities were second to none, so I dont think you will have a problem.

The crew were also very helpful when using the tenders. Annie
