Royal Caribbean Independence of the Seas

Will be sailing on Independence of the Seas in November. First time with this cruiseline and as a wheelchair user. Has anybody got any observations as a wheelchair mover on this ship?

You will have no problems, the new ships are designed with ease of access in mind.

    Hello Wheelsonsea,
As Coolcruiser said, you won't have any problems. All the corridors are wide and there were plenty of wheelchair users on board last summer, as well as mobility scooters. Perhaps the only slight issue might be that the lifts are not all that big so at busy times of the day you might have a wait to get into one. However, I thought everything looked very accessible. I read somewhere on here that RCI had a person who looked after issues for disabled travellers so you could take any specific questions ie if you need a hoist, up with her.

Royal Caribbean has a dept devoted to assisting passengers with special needs. You can receive a brochure 'Accessible Seas' which outlines all the features on board that make cruising accessible for you. I don't know the UK phone number, but there is an Access Dept you can phone or email with questions. If you go to the website and look at FAQ's or do a site search for disability you should find it there.

I think you will find it easier than a land vacation.

Hi there, well if the IOTS is the same as the Navigator and it is but slightly bigger, the navigator was truly fantastic to get around, the whole ship was easier as it has the promenade which is the main focal point, so dont worry have a superb time, i did..
