Cruise from UK for honeymoon 2011

My fiance and I have never cruised before and are considering going on a cruise for our honeymoon next year. We want to go from the UK and think that a cruise would be ideal as I won't fly so it will mean seeing different places abroad without having to worry about flying. We are hoping to go to the Mediterranean and considering July 2011 as we have seen quite a few cruises going at the time, although we are marrying in June. We really need advice on which cruise line everyone would recommend for a couple on their honeymoon? I am in my mid 20s and my fiance is late 20s. I am also vegetarian so would like a cruise line that is good at catering for this. So far we have looked at P&O, Royal Caribbean and Celebrity Cruises. All advice is much appreciated.

I think Royal Caribbean (Freedom of the Seas) would be ideal for your ages and the ship is amazing! Their reviews are constantly good.

Celebrity are a bit more upmarket, a little more formal, the food gets more fussy, the passengers might well be older (not so many families) and the fares should be higher. However the 'Celebrity' experience would be more 'special' if you like a bit more formality and fine wines/very fancy food etc. Personally at 20+ I'd would have been happier with RCI.

P&O's big new ships (Ventura and Azura) are an option, but they do seem to get mixed reviews these days.

All the cruises have veggy options.

    Hi Angel

I have only done RC and P&O but both would be excellent choices, Celebrity I have yet to try but there have been some excellent reports on here about them.

If you are looking at the Med my personal choice would be a 16 night cruise ex Southampton that takes in Venice ( Ideal for honeymooners ) Dubrovnik, Corfu , Croatia etc.

Whatever you decide I'm sure it will be a good choice.

Smile - everyone will wonder what you are up to

There's really only one Cruise line for you and that's Fred Olsen and especially the Balmoral ! Big enough to have adequate facilities but small enough to be friendly: the food is fabulous and the crew could not be better.
We should know - we shall be in the Baltic on the Balmoral celebrating our diamond wedding just about when you're getting married !
Congratulations and all the best for the future. See you on the Balmoral ?

I understood the Fred Olsen ships had quite an older clientele than the OP?

RCI would be the best choice for you if you want something a bit more active but Celebrity is best for food, service and ambiance. Celebrity is more upmarket and for a honeymoon I would cruise with them for that something special feeling. the Celebrity Eclipse sails from Southampton, we are cruising on her this Sept and cannot wait. she appears to be a beautiful modern ship. we have cruised on both RCI and Celebrity and Celebrity wins hands down. :D

wishing you both a great wedding day, a fantastic honeymoon........whatever cruise line you choose, and a happy long life together. :D

don't want to work, just want to cruise.
