    Cunard Cruise Share

    Dear all,

This is Daniel from Cruise.Co.Uk. Danielt@cruise.co.uk

I have a lovely gent from the Isle of Jersey looking for a travel companian for a Cunard world cruise sector next year.

He would like to reduce the cost as the single supplement is a bit too much to swallow.

His ideas for the cruise are as follows.

Queen Elizabeth 5th Jan 2011 to LA 29th Jan 2011.
Then spend sometime in california and other destinations.

If anyone has any interest or would like further details please contact me at Cruise.Co.Uk on 08004086127.

    Happy cruising

    Daniel

Yes, there's a fair degree of risk involved, isn't there?

Wouldn't it be great to have a sub-forum for this. Mind you VERY brave decision for cruise dot to offer this kind thing, supposing it did not work out..........

I would only be introducing them and it is not something the company actively seek. I've talked to the guy and said i would try and do something for him as he is not internet savvy. :D

I think its a lovely idea. Many years ago P&O used to do what they called 'Friendly Four' Cabins. You paid a lower rate for a share of the four berth cabin and would be put with others of the same sex (Males or Females all together) who wanted to do the same. You then took pot luck as you never knew who you were going to end up with.

And they really had to be 'friendly'. I'm talking of the days when the cabin only had a sink, were really tiny and the loo and bathroom was down the hall.

Well I like the idea as I would be prepared to share on some cruises where I am solo, especially Cunard or Celebrity, but this itinerary is not matching for me but good luck in your search

Well, I think this is a really good thing that Daniel is doing. As Bradbury Coventry said,
PO used to do this years ago.
I have been on PO over 16 times and most of these trips were on cruises where I would book to share a cabin with another lady. If no lady was found you were guaranteed the room to yourself. I always paid the fixed price which was £1100. This was in the mid eighties. So over 20 years ago! I often ended up with a stateroom all to myself. I have even had a suite all to myself! Plus I have shared with some very nice ladies. One lady I shared with was in her 80's and was so interesting. She had beautiful coloured nylons I have to call them that as this is what they were. Not tights, not panty hose, but good old fashioned nylon stockings with seams up the back!
One night I commented how nice they were and she took a handful and screwed them up and through them at me. She said,

My dear I have had these 40 year, my late husband bought them for me the day the war broke out.

She was lovely and each night told me not to come home and get yourself a nice man.
( guess she wanted the room to herself) but we had fun and I did not mind having her in the same room as me even though I was half her age.
Daniel, tell your man from Isle of Jersey he can stay with me and my other half as we are doing the same voyage. He may have to sleep in his suit case or he can have my bed and I will sleep in the life boat. Don't mind as long as I am there.
I hope he manages to make the trip, it will be a memorable occasion.

Just another memory of sharing. PO would only pair you up with someone similar. For instance if you were not a smoker and they were this was a no no. Also age did not matter, but they would seperate you at meal times. So if you wanted second sitting they would pair you with a first sitting person. This way you were both never in the cabin at the same time getting ready for dinner.
It worked well, I never minded sharing but there again I had worked on the cruise ships and had to share with three other girls on my first ship. In bunk beds ! No bath room only a sink and communal showers. We lived in the bowels of the ship seperated from men and it was known as the HAREM!

Maybe cruise line web site should have a 'buddy' feature?
