    New single cruiser

    Hello Everyone,

I have cruised twice, the first being just last year and I really love it!

I am single and travel with my thirteen year old son, so it would be good to hear of any other single travellers?

Also, does anybody know if there are ever organised meetings on the ships for single people(suitable for female in late forties)?

I have cruised Princess and Royal Caribbean, but hope to go with P& O this year!

    Sheila

    Hi Sheila
Welcome to the forum, I'm pretty sure a lot of cruise lines have singles meetings, but as I'm not single I dont realy Know the answer to that one.

I'm a regular with P&O and I find them to be of very good standard with lots to do on board, also with good drinks prices (no more than on land) as well, many cruise lines charge high prices for their drinks.

Be warned though cruisings is contagious, you are now hooked I'm afraid.

Hiya Sheila! Welcome. PandO would be a good choice for you and your son. I go with my OH. but they do singles meetings. Every day if my memory serves me well. Also we have taken our grandaughters, similar age to your son. Great facillities for them also. Carol.

Hello Sheila, I 'm a single cruiser too. I have been with Princess, RCI, Celebrity, NCL and Thomson and they all have at least one singles meeting. Some have one near beginning of cruise so you can meet up, some have one every evening in one of the bars, others one or two a week. You need to check the daily newsheet/programme to see if and when they are. You can also speak to one of the entertainment staff, they will generally know who the singles are.

I find that if I am sitting alone in a bar (sounds like a song!!) that generally someone will talk to me, and find there are always some passengers who like to take a singleton under their care!! I have also found that generally I will be put at a table with at least one other, sometimes more, single passengers.

As has been said, cruising is addictive - can't get enough of it myself. Off next Saturday on my next one, San Juan and Celebrity Summit.

    Hello Everyone,
Thank you all for your replies. I shall certainly look out for the meetings for single travellers, and hopefully they won't mind me going along with my son(he doesn't enjoy joining in with the kids activities)!
I shall possibly be on the Aurora in August, so will check out those meetings.
Many thanks again for all your answers
    Sheila
