    The Pre-Cruise Diet

Does anyone else do it? You know, there's a cruise on the horizon so you start cutting-down on the food intake in readiness for the over-indulgence at sea.

I do........ only for a couple of weeks normally. Just stop eating so much rubbish to make a bit more room. This time it's different though.........

We thought we'd try a cruise with some 'Formal' nights. Better see if the dinner suit still fits.................not a chance. Should I buy a new one? Could I get the trousers 'let-out' a bit? Or should I................. lose weight?

Decision made...........the diet begins. Two whole months of no fat. Out with the cream, pastry, cakes, biscuits, butter.....ohhh butter.
Now it's the olive stuff that lowers cholesterol. No wonder you lose weight, it tastes so bad you hardly eat any of it. And if I eat any more chicken I'll start to look like one (move-over Cluckingtons).

Anyway.............job done! The dinner suit fits a treat.

The only trouble is.............that was all for the last cruise, and that was months ago. The diet must have just kept going. I'm like a stick insect. 'Hoiking' my jeans up all the time.

The dinner suit trousers still fit perfectly (maybe just a tad tight) but the jacket just hangs off me. The new dress shirt I bought just a few months ago is like a tent. Mind you it was always generous. Guys, if you buy the £35 dress shirt from Marks and Sparks make sure you try it on in the shop (they'll let you). My other half has had to put darts in it (one hundred and eighty)..... no not those darts.... the pleats at the back to make it fit me.

    Anyway..............here's the twist............

There's another cruise coming-up and I'm now so skinny that instead of a pre-cruise diet, I'm on a pre-cruise binge...... to 'bulk-up' a bit, and it's not easy.

One thing's for sure........ I won't be so skinny at the end of the cruise.

Any other tales of diets or ill-fitting clothes out there to cheer me up?

I'm off to bed now, but not before I get on the outside of another Cornish Pastie.

    Bye for now

    Bob (aka skinny malinky)

P.S............ Marks and Sparks do a 'slim-fit' version of the dress shirt now and I've gone and bought one of those now..............another £35 down the swanny but hopefully I'll look 'dapper'.

    mmmm, for my November cruise
Walking an hour each day with Nordic poles and eating minimal lunches and half portions with fruit helps
I've lost 10 pounds since June 21 and the goal is 15 by November 4 and th reward is to get 60,000 Air Miles from my daughter.

That should allow me to go first class down the road with my current balance of pints to England or Australia though if I share with my OH , more likely premier economy.

    / Rob
Next Cruise:> Mmm , maybe a river cruise or NY to Southampton Atlantic

Well done Rob with the weight, but I didn't know you could get airmiles for drinking pints. My OH must have millions.:D:D

I am afraid I am your typical yo-yo dieter, at the moment I am on a cereal and fruit only diet, I have lost 18 lbs in 2 weeks, as I managed to put on 12lbs on my last cruise in August, according to my Wii fit I am now only 4lbs less than I was 67 days ago!! trouble is I have another cruise booked for the end of October so I must keep on the diet till then, as when we get back Christmas is around the corner and I will end up looking like Mr. Blobby, then diet again for the April cruise.

Yes, I know where you are all coming from with dieting in readiness to cruise. I intended to do the same myself.. then realised that June -July- August and September would be taken up with - 3 weddings -plus- 3 big celebratory family parties! As the cruise is on September 21st it hardly seemed worth bothering ( my excuse).:D Instead I am taking a leaf out of my sister's book -- she reckons on only taking " FORGIVING DRESSES" on her many cruises..ones that expand with her..So here's hoping it works for me too. ;)

I could've done with a few weddings myself to get a bit of weight on.

I buy 'forgiving' trousers. Concealed expanding waist.

    I hope they contract now.......

I'm back sticking to my Weightwatchers plan. We were suppossed to be cruising at Christmas but that has had to be cancelled so now it's just a general slim session. I can vary by 49lbs or 3 dress sizes just depending on what I'm working and how many cruises I've had ~ I'm at the lower end at the mo but could do with getting rid of about 10lbs

We are all atheists about most of the gods that humanity has ever believed in. Some of us just go one god further.
