I think the next MSC ship to be named after fantasia is going to be a bit of a mouthful

    MSC Meraviglia

    It means wonder apparently

And both Costa and MSC have ships called Favolsa planned, Costa's in Summer 2011 and MSC's in Feb 2012 ~ confusion shall reign or one will get renamed!

We are all atheists about most of the gods that humanity has ever believed in. Some of us just go one god further.

How about "Gratuity of the seas", or even "Costa Lotta" just to name 2.

B****r. And I was just about to suggest that a generic name for cruise ships could be "Costa Packet". Had a cruise round the Med in October 07 which did not match up to our high expectations, which were based on the line's hype. Can't recall the ships's name but we called it "Spirit of Misadventure". :-)

That's not a bad name that, 'The Stormont Castle' sounds good, although I think better suited to a 1960's Pacific class steam train, but I do agree it's got a good ring to it.

    Hi Barrowman,
I like it as well but I think that Neil got it right. :D

I used to work for the Castle Line and we never did have a ship called the Stormont Castle so it would fit in well. Particularly as all of them have been scrapped :D

Age does not bring wisdom. Often it merely changes simple stupidity into arrogant conceit. ;)

Could be a nice earner for the cruise lines if they went down the same road as football clubs and sold the name of their ships to corporate sponsors. I quite like the sound of "P+O B+Q" and of course "Costa Coffee"!

Perhaps the next RCI ship might be named 'Impossibly Large of the Seas'? Its sister ship might be 'Ludicrously Large of the Seas'.
Oh Bosscat, that really had me in fits. An Oasis is just a small desert watering hole. Maybe, for their next class of ship, the twin hull (and quadruple superstructure) 'Niagra' class, which will weigh in at some 575000 grt. length apx 3150 ft, beam 345 ft and draft 57ft, with 39 decks and accommodation for 69000 guests (apx), RCI could use the name 'Gigantic of the Seas', with sisters 'Elephantine otS', and Carnival / Cunard permitting, 'Titanic otS'.
